I’m Blake —  the founder behind The Curiosity Spark.

Let's explore how it came all about, shall we?​

​

TLDR: What once showed up on my school report cards as a "persistent ability to distract others" and "a keen interest in learning but only when he chooses to" gradually became one of my greatest strengths — a natural curiosity, trying new things, diving down rabbit holes, entertaining people, and creating memorable moments. Over time, that instinct evolved into professional performance, educational theatre, facilitation, global travel, and eventually... The Curiosity Spark.

Where it began​

I went to drama school because playing characters, acting, and putting on voices was pretty fun and I was glad it was something you can actually study without striving to be an astrophysicist for a fulfilling career.

​

This also probably explains why I love being a children's entertainer despite over one million kicks to the shins over the years... and counting. Shoutouts to Stardust Kids for the countless awesome kids' parties and events the team and I have provided around all of Sydney.

​

I found some great value touring theatre-in-education shows highlighting wellbeing and anti-bullying for Brainstorm Productions. Alongside this I've enjoyed presenting programs in schools focused on enterprise skills, money smart coaching, sustainability, waste management, digital footprints and cyber safety for CBA, Optus, Cleanaway, and EY.

Short story LOOONG

Working with young people in all sorts of creative learning environments, I’ve seen the magic of when education becomes something children step into rather than simply sit through.

 

The lessons that stayed with me growing up weren’t the ones I memorised for exams — they were wrapped in characters, stories, creativity, and discovery.

There's so much more to learning than correctly applying Pythagoras’ theorem.

Confidence, empathy, imagination, teamwork, perspective, and curiosity may not always appear on a report card — but they often shape who young people become.

​

So I found myself asking:

What is curiosity?

Do we learn it, lose it — or forget how to use it?

Where does it come from?
Where does it go?
And why does my brain immediately start singing Cotton Eye Joe whenever I ask that?

When it clicked​​

Working with people, young and not as young, in a variety of settings revealed something powerful to me:

When learning feels like play, curiosity catches fire.

People become braver.
More expressive.
More thoughtful.
More inquisitive.

​

With curiosity the room fills with imagination, questions, and the kind of laughter we often forget to make time for as adults when life gets all sorts of busy...

People open up.
They take creative risks.
They ask better questions.
They surprise themselves.

​

Watching that spark of curiosity catch?

It's actually legit one of my favourite things in the whole wide world.​

A bigger perspective

After several years exploring, travelling and guiding tours across Europe with Contiki (Yes - I'm still catching up on sleep), I noticed that same curious spark come alive in grown adults when discovering new places, ideas, cultures, foods, and new versions of themselves — And that's pretty cool, but WHAT IF they got curious as kids and... stayed curious.

 

Wherever we are, whatever we do, curiosity turns the unfamiliar into adventure.
Adventure becomes growth.

​And the world opens up because we care enough to explore it.

Now THAT'S a more exciting formula than A² + B² = C²

​

All these curious observations stayed with me - and I needed to do something about it...

​

So, I created The Curiosity Spark to help people build confidence, think independently, and step into the world with questions and imagination leading the way.
