Most incursions can run in a regular classroom, double classroom, library, hall or shared learning space. We just need enough room for students to sit comfortably and participate. Floor seating is usually best, as having no chairs allows for more fluid activities around the space.

No — not usually. Our incursions are designed to work without school tech, smartboards or projectors unless arranged for a specific session. If easy access to a smartboard is available, especially when stationed in one space, we may use visuals to add extra impact during the incursion.

Yes. We bring the key materials needed for the session. If anything extra is required, we’ll let you know before the day.

This depends on the incursion and the space available. One or two classes at a time is usually ideal, with up to 60 students for a standard session. Some sessions can be adapted for larger groups and may be quoted on a per-student basis, as outlined in our pricing guide.

Yes. Sessions can be adjusted to suit different stages, age groups and learning needs where appropriate. We adapt the delivery to suit the room, the students and the flow of the day.

No special preparation is required. Teachers are welcome to connect the incursion to current learning before or after the session, but the experience is designed to stand on its own. When preparing for an incursion with The Curiosity Spark, schools are welcome to share relevant learning areas, topics or focus points. Where possible, we can tailor elements of the session to support what students are already exploring — without asking teachers to create a detailed lesson plan.

Yes. Teacher supervision is required throughout the session. Teacher participation in interactive activities is very welcome, but not always necessary.

Yes. We can stay set up in one classroom or shared learning space while classes rotate through, which often helps the day run smoothly. In many cases, we can also move between classrooms depending on the incursion, timetable and setup required. We’ll work with whichever option is least disruptive to your classes.

Ideally, schools book the same incursion format across the day so each session can run smoothly for different classes or year groups. Some core incursions may be varied if the timetable allows, with around 30 minutes between sessions to reset materials, change costume or adjust the setup. For Curious Characters, we recommend one character focus per day so the performance and learning experience can be delivered at its best.

Some characters are inspired by real people, historical figures, stories or key learning areas. Each one is presented as an engaging, age-appropriate interpretation designed to support curiosity, discussion and learning, rather than as an exact reenactment or complete historical depiction.

Once your booking is confirmed, we’ll send through an invoice with the session details, pricing and payment information. If your school requires a purchase order, PO number or specific billing details, these can be provided before invoicing and we’ll include them on the invoice. Preferred payment is by bank transfer. Online card payment via Square may also be available on request.
